Mallorca is a remarkable location to visit if you are interested in the arts. There are several places dedicated to art in all its forms. Numerous museums and art exhibitions can be found all over Mallorca with works created by universally acknowledged artists, but there is also room for contemporary artists. An art form that is highly available in Mallorca is music. Mallorca consists of a rich musical venue, performing repertoires from periods such as the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, modernist and other contemporary musical compositions.

There are various festivals and musical events in Mallorca. One festival worth mentioning is the Chopin festival that take place in the Carthusian monastery in Valldemossa. The festival attracts a variety of award-winning musicians all across the world. The Chopin festival occurs every year in August. General musical performances are executed frequently in Mallorca, and they are often held by musicians and conductors that are widely known. Even today, the tenth of July, the prestigious pianist and conductor Daniel Barenboim will play works composed by Franz Schubert in Palma.

Mallorca, specifically Palma de Mallorca is known for its beautiful architecture. Mallorca is made up of many sights to admire. One of these attractions is of course the famous cathedral, with many other buildings and sculptures surrounding the area. The Carthusian monastery in Valldemossa which was mentioned earlier is also a delightful place to visit.

Art exhibitions occur often in Mallorca, and by a simple search you will be able to find several available exhibitions. There are also museums that host different artistic works. Es Baluard is a popular museum that display contemporary works created by artists related to the Balearic Islands. When the museum first opened in 2004 there were 55.000 residents and tourists visiting the museum during the first month, marking it a success. Museo Can Morey de Santmarti is a museum located in Palma that is permanently holding private drawings and sketches created by Salvador Dalí. The museum is open daily, satisfying customers with an interest in Dalí or just art in general.

This is just the top of the iceberg concerning the arts in Mallorca, and there is much more to discover. You will most certainly encounter cultural artifacts wherever you go, as well as artistic works created by everything from individuals famous all across the globe, to newly acquainted people making their way in the diverse world of art.
