How did you first arrive in Mallorca?
I moved to Mallorca with my family at the end of 2011. The original plan was to stay for about a year. But Mallorca has a way of convincing people to stay longer than expected, and we were no exception.
What made you decide to make it permanent?
Leaving the comfort and structure of Sweden for a country I had only visited a handful of times was both challenging and exciting. Not speaking the language added another layer. After a few years, however, everything started to align, and Mallorca began to feel like home rather than a temporary stop.
You are involved in several projects, including SEO Ibérica. What does your work focus on today?
SEO Ibérica is the foundation of everything I do. My work revolves around designing and developing websites and then building their visibility through search engine optimisation. From that base, several other projects have naturally evolved.
What originally drew you to the digital space and SEO in particular?
I began working with SEO in Sweden in the early 2000s, around the time Google became the dominant search engine. Online marketing has been part of my professional life ever since. For businesses, visibility online is no longer optional; it’s essential.
When I moved to Mallorca, I noticed how difficult it was to find relevant, high-quality information online. That gap presented an opportunity. Website design, development, and SEO go hand in hand, especially for businesses targeting an international audience.
What advice would you give to businesses looking to improve their online presence?
Focus on the fundamentals. Ensure every page of your website has a clear and unique title that reflects what it offers. From there, invest in quality content and build strong relationships within your industry, with partners, journalists, and content creators.
What are the main challenges of running a business in Mallorca?
Administration and paperwork can be complex, so I chose to work with professionals who manage registration, accounting, and compliance. That allows me to focus on growth. While economic caution is still present, the overall business climate feels increasingly positive.
What advice would you give to entrepreneurs considering a move to Mallorca?
Nothing in particular, really. Passion is essential. Without it, it’s difficult to sustain momentum. And learning Spanish sooner rather than later makes both business and daily life far easier. Something I wish I had prioritised earlier.
Finally, do you have any personal goals for 2015?
My focus was on continuing to double annual sales in SEO Ibérica while expanding my other ventures. Navegara was set to grow beyond Mallorca, offering yacht charters in Ibiza and Marbella. I was also preparing to launch a new project, available at mallorcaguide.se.
