5 COSY RESTAURANTS FOR FALL IN PALMA

As the evenings get a little cooler and the pace of the island begins to slow down, it’s time to swap beach lunches for long dinners indoors. Autumn is one of our favourite times of year in Mallorca, not least when it comes to dining out. We’ve selected five restaurants that feel particularly inviting right now, with warm and charming atmospheres, great food and cosy settings that make you want to stay just a little longer.

LUME & CO

As the temperatures begin to drop, Lume & Co is one of those places that really comes into its own. The restaurant is set in an old building just outside central Palma, with stone walls, wooden beams and a warm, rustic atmosphere that feels particularly suited to autumn.

While the restaurant is well known for its beautiful terrace, during the cooler months it’s the dining room that makes Lume & Co especially worth a visit – particularly when the fireplace is lit.

SA FARINERA

Housed in an old flour mill just outside Palma, Sa Farinera is a restaurant with plenty of character and a setting that feels particularly fitting for autumn. The original mill machinery, stone walls and rustic interiors have been preserved, creating a warm and distinctive atmosphere.

The kitchen is centred around the grill, with meat cooked over an open fire taking a prominent place on the menu. It’s straightforward, hearty cooking in a setting that has retained much of its traditional Mallorcan character. When the evenings get cooler, Sa Farinera is exactly the kind of place where you’ll happily settle in for a long dinner.

CELLER PAGÈS

For classic Mallorcan home cooking, Celler Pagès is always a reliable choice. The restaurant has been in Palma since 1956 and is still run by the same family, now in its third generation. Tradition is at the heart of everything here, both on the plate and in the charming, rustic dining room.

The menu is filled with Mallorcan classics such as sopes mallorquines, frit mallorquí, tumbet, stuffed aubergines and lamb, with dishes changing according to the season and availability. This kind of food feels particularly fitting in autumn, when something warmer and heartier is especially welcome. Unpretentious, welcoming and unmistakably Mallorcan.

CAN PIAR

In the heart of Palma’s old town, Can Piar is a small restaurant that feels made for autumn dinners. The intimate, understated dining room has stone walls, wooden details and just a handful of tables – a world away from the city’s larger and livelier restaurants.

The kitchen is modern with clear Mediterranean influences and a menu that follows the seasons. The focus is on quality ingredients, carefully composed dishes and a wine list with a particular interest in smaller and local producers.

Can Piar is a place for a relaxed dinner where the food and wine are allowed to take centre stage. In autumn, when the evenings turn cooler and sitting indoors becomes more appealing than a busy terrace, its small dining room feels especially inviting.

LA DESPENSA DEL BARÓN

Hidden among the narrow streets of Palma’s old town, La Despensa del Barón is located inside Hotel Posada Terra Santa. The restaurant occupies a historic building with stone walls, vaulted ceilings and soft lighting – a setting that feels particularly atmospheric as the autumn evenings grow darker.

The menu is rooted in Mallorcan and Mediterranean cuisine. Local, seasonal ingredients guide the kitchen, with dishes that work equally well for sharing or for putting together a longer dinner.

Despite being right in the centre of Palma, the restaurant feels calm and tucked away from the city’s busier streets. A great choice for a leisurely dinner in one of those settings that reminds you just how much history lies behind the façades of Palma’s old town.

Autumn in Mallorca has a charm of its own, and as the pace of the island slows down, there are even more reasons to explore its restaurants. Whether you’re in the mood for traditional Mallorcan cooking, something more contemporary or simply a cosy setting, we hope one of these five favourites becomes your next dinner destination. Bon profit!
